The colour distribution and the proportions of the pattern on our Cosmopolitan fabric are reminiscent of Russian avant-garde art, while also evoking urban design in major cities. A precise digital printing technique was used for this fabric, extending a highly graphic motif across the finely woven, dense and softly draping cotton satin.
The Russian avant-garde was a process of upheaval and renewal that took place between 1905 and 1934 and affected every aspect of the arts in Russia. Our cotton satin fabric Cosmopolitan shows just how colourful and full of contrast avant-garde can be. It reinterprets the Russian artist El Lissitzky’s abstract body of work known as ‘Proun’.
